Special Mail-In Election for Lincoln Public Schools District

The Lincoln Board of Education voted to move forward with a ballot initiative that would green-light expansion and improvements for our city’s rapidly growing school district on Dec. 10, 2018. The bond would NOT raise the current tax rate.

In the past five years alone, enrollment in the LPS district has increased by over 4,000 students. Passing this bond would build two new high schools and one new elementary school – alleviating pressure on facilities currently serving hundreds more students than they were designed to hold.   • This election will be conducted entirely by mail. Ballots will be mailed to all registered voters of the School District on Monday, January 20, 2020.
  • Ballots must be mailed or hand-delivered to the election commissioner’s office, 601 N. 46th St by 5 pm on Tuesday, Feb. 11. There is a drop box on the north side of the office.

In order to vote on for the special election, Lincoln residents can register to vote by Jan. 24 at Nebraska’s online voter registration portal or register to vote in person at the election commissioner’s office by Jan. 31.
