Feb 12

IBEW, 1409 Old Farm Road

7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Retired Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services official Kate High will discuss “Dark Money in Nebraska Elections and Legislation” during the meeting set for 7 p.m. at the  IBEW Hall at 1409 Old Farm Road.

Her lecture stems from a study commissioned by the League of Women Voters in 2016 to determine:

  • Ways in which money is used to affect the outcome of elections, legislation and government contracts.
  • Nebraska Accountability and Disclosure laws and enforcement compared to other states.
  • Ways in which Nebraska might improve and strengthen campaign finance laws and enforcement.

High retired after 30 years at HHS, where she worked as a policy analyst, supervisor, case worker, trainer and program accuracy specialist.  She was awarded Supervisor of the Year and Employee of the Month, and her work on improving accessibility to the Food Stamp Program was cited by the USDA as a model for other states.

  • Tuesday, Feb. 12

The meeting is open to the public. Please invite friends!
